Handmade Envelope Clutch Pin It
31 Oct

This winter, you can’t miss an envelope clutch in your wardrobe. Instead of buying one, I made my own envelope clutch. I used white Canvas as the base and hand painted dots afterwards with my Fabric paints. With the envelope thin body, I can easily slide it in my purse. Check the pattern and sewing direction in the end. Also, they are coming on my ETSY shop soon.

Here is the fun part for putting the fabric pieces together

Pink represents right side of the fabric, dots represent wrong side of the fabric.
Step1
Fold clutch piece to inside along marked FOLD LINES. Open one side again. First one diagonal seam as illustrated, ending at marked seam allowance on upper edge (arrow). Tie-off ends of seam.
Step2
Stitch second seam in same manner. Turn pointed end f allowance of center section down and press seams open (3).
Sew 2nd bag piece in same manner.
Step3
Slide one bad piece into the other, right sides facing. Pin upper edges together. Stitch edges of flap section together beginning and ending 1 1/4″ (3cm) from side folding line (arrows). leave remaining edge open for turning. Trim allowances on point narrowly. Trim bag right side out sliding one layer into the other, wrong sides facing.
Step4
Turn allowances on open upper bag edges to inside and baste. Pin fold edges together and sew together by hand, as invisibly as possible.
Sew UPPER SNAP HALF to inner side of flap (X) and sew lower snap half to outer side of clutch front, to match (x). Sew FLOWERS to outer side of flap, equally spaced.
